CHORUS HISTORY

MAKING HISTORY:

The sportive institution of Club Deportivo de Bilbao, was born in 1894. In 1931, the famous group "the Chimbos" acted in that time newly opened Sports Club Bilbao. That group later was converted into "the Bocheros", under the Circus belonging to the Sportive Club of Bilbao and its founder (Julián Echevarria shrimp), growing to international fame with their known "Bilbainadas".
In November 1969, in memory of the Bocheros, with the help of one of its founders (Felipe Caballero) he form the new choir and actively working with him.
Thus, the Chorus of the Club Deportivo de Bilbao was created in the early 70s under the baton of Julian Fernandez de las Heras heading east to 16 members, all male voices (Baritones, tenors and basses). This Chorus lasted several years; but finally he was disolved.

THE CHORUS TODAY:

In memory of the previous chorus, in March 2011 under the mandate of the newly appointed president of the Club (Jose Luis Lasa) it was launched the new choir, this time with 40 voices of members and partners forming the current Chorus Mixed Voices of Sports Club Bilbao, a member of that choir founded in the 70s (D. Andoni Renovales). The direction of the choir is assigned to Sebal Jorge with the invaluable assistance of the soprano Patricia Sesar.

PERFORMANCES:

Since 2011 we have been involved in various events many cultural and solidarity:
Various social events in the Sports Club, where we have sung: Presentations; Awards, Christmas Concert, Spring Concert; Summer Concert, Cultural ad Solidarity events.
Also outside the club: we have participated in the Euskalduna auditorium at Bilbao with orchestra singing the Mesias of Haendel, in the day of Bizkaia corals; in the Tribute 200 Anniversaries of the birth of Verdi; in other types of anniversaries, funerals, celebrations, visits or other actions in Nursing Homes; in the Days of the Spring Concerts organized by BAE. Also we have been participating every year on the day of Santa Agueda through the streets of Bilbao; and we have been invited to sing for the last 2 years in the final year Diploma, in the auditorium of the University of Basque Country in Leioa.

Notably, our brotherhood and collaboration with choirs such as: Garaizarko Matxorriak, Bleibet, Hala Dzipo, San Ignacio Abesbatza, Arraizpe, Inmakuladako Abeslariak or Orfeón of Sestao among others.

-The Sanctuary of "La encina" and the Convent of the Augustinians (Artzeniega);

   -Church of St. Francisco Javier; 
   -St. Joseph Parish Mountain (Augustine); 
   -Church of Santa Maria de Sestao, 
   -Church of Santa Maria in Gernika,

-Gijon, invited by the council of the village.
-University of Basque Country (Years 2013 and 2014)
-Fair Saturday initiative (Years 2014 and 2015)
